I'm unfollowing you because...
You are obnoxious
Your views are too strident
Your posts are self-indulgent and too long
Your love-life is not that interesting

Maybe it's the saturation of the 9/11 coverage
But I wonder if 2001 was the apotheosis of all that was great about America.

S: Aw, good ole 14 Mission.
S: The guy behind me says he's been on vacation "for 90 days, been out about two weeks." He's on his way to the methadone clinic. Other patrons are discussing the other closer clinics. 16th and Capp apparently. Oh shit everyone just jumped off the bus to catch 14L. Wait half of them just got back on. Wtf is going on. They are getting off again.
S: OMG. Someone's playing "Smack That" on their phone and there are four other unrelated people singing along with it. They are standing up and dancing now on the bus! I should be filming not typing this
Although I live in Pacific Heights (yes they do call is Specific Whites for a reason), I occasionally long for the NYC grittiness of living in the Mission. I then I read about this Muni experience and am grateful for the relative peace and quiet of the 38L.
Tell a girl she's gorgeous and she'll believe it...

Summer 2011 Bucket List
As you all know, I make lists. Last summer, when I moved here (around mid July) it was in the 90s in NYC and I was thrilled for all the newness of my future home in Cali. I wasn’t prepared for how cold it would be in the summer (last year in particular), how stressful it would be to look for a new home and a new job, and how hard it was to work on California AND New York time. This summer I...

Reasons to love california
It’s 85 degrees today and its not humid.
Don't know what to say.
So much snark for Bush. So much sadness for lost lives. Grateful for service. Disturbed at the destruction one man in this day can bring.
Wish it were over.

WFH is also a plus.
Reboot Resolutions 2011
I do this every year, on or around New Years. And I do get a kick out of looking back throughout the year to check on progress and see what’s changed. Or what hasn’t. Last year was a huge year for me. Moving to California, a lifelong dream, had its own rewards and serious challenges (more on that later). But January 1 came and went without so much as thought toward what my goals were...

No Great Illusion: This is Something That Happened... →
This is a horrible story.
But unfortunately, so completely normal in NYC.
One of the sad things I had to get used to in New York was getting scammed out of thousands of dollars by ‘professional’ crooks, landlords, cops, Realtors. I became so jaded. I had to leave.

I haven’t had a good night’s sleep in ten days. Actually I haven’t slept in three. Last time I do this cross-country, guilt induced, four family, six friends, east coast holiday tour.
There’s a reason why I almost always went out of town on vacation for Christmas.

Tyler Coates: A conversation that I will not miss... →
Other Person: So, where are you going to live when you move to New York? I assume you’re going to settle in Brooklyn? Ha ha ha!
Me: Well, I’m not sure yet. I’d love to live in Manhattan, just because I’d like to have that super urban experience, and Brooklyn reminds me a little bit of Chicago.
Brooklyn is actually pretty cool.
